Last call for an owner for the boards!

For those of you who missed it, the message boards at lotrfanmb / lotrfellowship are now offline as no one has as yet responded to my requesting a new owner for it... it's not too late to bring it back on if anyone would like to take on the annual payment of $107. I can pay it to bring it back up with a reimbursement, then transfer all the info to that person so it would be theirs to manage from that point! (really, it isn't hard to do, the controls are all labeled).

The boards are a very out-of-date version at this point but if you like you can either just let it keep going along (most of it still works fine - just occasional password or posting issues) or you could update it to another version if you are the enterprising sort.

I'm sorry I can't keep supporting it anymore, it's been such a wonderful season in our lives and I've been so blessed to have had the opportunity to know all of you - I'm still hoping someone from our old gang might come along to keep the homestead going with a fire in the fireplace.

The biggest effort was in initial set up and launch, now that all the extras (like smileys and profanity filter, etc) are already there it's very, very easy. I think the only thing we had this past year was when photobucket went kablooie and took several people's avatars with it so I had to log into their various accounts and choose one for them from the stable of pictures we already built up there. I remember it wouldn't let me access Din's account so she still has a "image not available" but I was able to do the rest. The admin controls are pretty well labelled and easy to navigate, and very, very rarely needed.

Of course you could do whatever you wanted with it - delete unused sections, make new ones, change the colors... it's all flexible. There are sites with forums for that type of board where people with more know-how can show you how to do things if you wanted to get adventurous.

What I've done thus far was to pay the annual fee up front and then have the voluntary monthly sponsors just reimburse that expense to me, picking up any gaps if needed.

Let me know if you want to go forward with that and I'll get the payment to Lunarpages to get it turned back on asap.

You can PM people by clicking on a person's name, which links to their journal. Then go to their profile and click on Private Message (in my layout, it's in a list of options in the upper right hand corner). Onomir of this community is also interested in helping; I'm hoping he can log in himself to have input.

I planned on paying it in full and am working with Primula and the Host Site but some have also expressed a desire to pay so I think we can discuss going forward. I defer to Primula and we shall see. Thank you very much and I do like you FB game page 👍
